CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PLANETARY BODIES

SUN

The sun in the Centre of the planets and it does not move, another move around it. The sun is largest the star and has a surface of 6000°c also it is the main source of light and energy to the planets

MERCURY

Mercury, the smallest, innermost planet. mercury is the hottest and closer the sun. It contains no living thing because of the surface temperature. it takes 88 days to complete its orbit around the sun

VENUS

It is the closest planet to the sun which contains no living thing. It often regarded as the earth twin because of their close proximity to one, mass and density. It takes 225days to complete its orbit. Its distance from the sun is 107, 200,000km with a diameter of 12 300. The surface of Venus reaches temperatures of 480°c(900°f), and the Venusian atmosphere is composed mostly of carbon dioxide (95 percent). Only minor amounts of water vapor and nitrogen have been detected.its atmosphere contains an opaque cloud deck about 25 kilometers from thick which begins about 70 kilometers from the surface. Although the unmanned Soviet Venera 8 survived less than an hour on the Venusian surface, it determined that the atmospheric pressure on this planet is 90 times greater than that found on the earth surface.

EARTH

The earth is the only planet which supports the existence of plants and animals. It has one natural satellite moon which r values found on earth once in every 28days.The earth fake3651/4days to complete its roll. The distance between the sun and the earth is 146,800,000km with a diameter of 12,762KM.

MARS

Mars is the next planet on earth and it is between to have the possibility of supporting some plant. It has two satellite called Phobos and Deimos. The distance from the sun is 22.7,2000000km. It takes 687 days to complete it to orbit.IT has a diameter of 6,7 90km.

JUPITER

It is the largest planet in the solar system. The surface contains gases such as hydrogen-helium and methane. Its distance from the sun is 772,800 000. It takes Jupiter about 11.9 years to complete its orbit. It has a diameter of 142,100km.It has 12 discovered satellite

SATURN

It’s the second largest planet after Jupiter.

SATURN distance from the sun is 1,417,600km.

It has 3 rings made up of ice and rock particles.

It takes Saturn 29.5 years to complete its orbit.

SATURN has a diameter of 119,700km.It has nine satellite

URANUS

It completes its orbit in a clockwise direction from east to west.

URANUS takes Uranus 84 years to complete its orbit.

Its distance from the sun is 2,854,400,000km.

It has a diameter of 51,100km.

URANUS has five satellite Ertania, Oberon, Umbriel, Ariel, Miranda

NEPTUNE

Neptune is very cold. Its distance from the sun is 4,468,800,000km. It takes Neptune 164.8years to complete orbit. It has the diameter of 45,00km. NEPTUNE has two satellite but is known to us Triton

PLUTO

Pluto was regarded as a planet when it was discovered in 1930, but this changed in 2006 as it was considered to be a dwarf planet. There are many other unknown planets that have not been discovered. All the nine planets move around the sun in a path known as the elliptical orbit. The stars which appear as NEBULA.

The planet was discovered by Percival Lowell.

Mercury, Venus, earth, and Mars are terrestrial planets which contain rocks and iron.

Jupiter and Saturn are gas planets which contain hydrogen-helium and methane.

Uranus and Neptune are ice planets which contain ice, water, ammonia methane.

NOTE: That in order for a planet to sweep equal areas in the same amount of time, it must travel most rapidly when it is nearest the sun and most slowly when it is farthest from the sun.
